TraCC Part II Lifelong Learning and Self-AssessmentBetween July 1 and June 30*, Diplomates are required to complete 26 AMA PRA Category I Credits™ which may come from any combination of addiction medicine CME activity*. Self-Assessment Activities (SAMs)The American College of Academic Addiction Medicine (ACAAM) offers SAMs with journal articles that are most clinically relevant to your practice. Visit the ACAAM Addiction Medicine Education Portal for access to the SAMs. There are currently 137 SAMs. A score of 75% or higher must be attained on the self-assessment for each article to pass that article. One (1) CME is granted for each successfully passed SAM (up to 137). These credits will count towards the requirement of 26 AMA PRA Category 1 credits™. ACCME Accreditation Statement: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and the American College of Academic Addiction Medicine. The American Society of Addiction Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Continuing Medical Education (CME)In total, Time-Limited Diplomates are required to complete at least 26 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ in addiction medicine annually*. These may be earned by completing any combination of ACAAM Addiction Medicine Education Portal SAMs, ABAM-Recommended Educational Activities, or Self-Reported CME addiction medicine activities. If you have a question about a desired external CME qualifying activity, please email us at [email protected]. All 26 AMA PRA Category I Credits™ must be completed by June 30 to remain in good standing and to have the ability to renew for the next cycle. You will not be eligible to renew or reinstate your certificate if your CME requirements are not completed by June 30. There is no grace period for completion of CME. *CME must be completed during the July-to-June cycle. Credit earned outside of the cycle will not be counted. *AOA Category 1-A and AOA Category 2-A credits are also acceptable. The handbook also outlines how to review your continuing education transcript, complete SAMs, and add self-reported activities to your profile. "How To" HandbookABAM Recognized Educational ActivitiesInstitutions and organizations offering addiction medicine education can apply for inclusion on the ACAAM Addiction Medicine Education Portal as a recommended activity. To apply, complete the Application Form and submit with all requested attachments. If approved, courses will be recognized by ABAM, noting physicians enrolled in ABAM TraCC can apply for credits for completing the course.
